The prayers of the saints have won battles, have held back rain and made it rain again, have brought physical healing, have stirred the nations. But when James urges us on for powerful prayer, it is for this noblest and surest purpose: “whoever brings the sinner back from wandering will save that person from death and bring about the forgiveness of many sins.” (James 5:20) In prayer and in life we get to be coworkers with God, witnesses and conduits of God’s resurrection power.
