All the Men’s Kings: The Prophets

The history written in the books of Kings covers centuries of idolatry, corruption, and oppression. And what was God doing about it? Did he stand by silently as this people, appointed to be a light to the world, descended into darkness? Did he impatiently give them what they deserved? Did he write them off and abandon them? The words of the Hebrew prophets are often scathing, with terrible warnings and dismal predictions, because God is relentless in his love and longing for his people. “Turn, turn!” he says. “Be my people and let me be your God!”
