HOW CARE FOR YOUR HANGING BASKETS (Tips from Aileen)
Hanging baskets from Tony’s Garden hold at least 7 plants in a small container. Because of this unnatural growing situation, it is imperative to water your basket daily and fertilize in a manner that allows the plants to get an adequate amount of nutrients. Too much watering with plain water just washes nutrients out of the pot.
🌸 Add a time-release fertilizer such as Osmocote as soon as you bring your basket home and then at least one other time during the growing season (sometime in July).
🌸 Fertilizer each time you water with half-strength fertilizer or once per week with full-strength fertilizer (follow directions on the box for full-strength) such as Miracle Gro (for roses or the regular formulation) by mixing the fertilizer with the water. Add fertilizer/water mix until it drips out of the hole in the bottom of the pot. Once per week, just use plain water until it drips out of the bottom of the pot.
🌸 Water daily when temperatures are below 90 degrees F. When temps rise above 90 degrees F, watering twice per day, once in the morning when it is still somewhat cool and then again in the hottest afternoon hours is best. For temps 100 degrees F and above, it is best to move your plant into the shade temporarily until temps drop. Sometimes at the beginning of the season when the highs are below 70 degrees F, water every other day, depending on how low the low’s are.
🌸 Shade-loving hanging baskets such as fuchsias and mixed shade baskets do best in a location with some morning sunshine and shade the rest of the day. For days with extreme temps, total shade would be best.
🌸 Sun-loving baskets such as petunias, million bells, and sun mixed baskets enjoy the sunshine but are okay with a little shade as well, especially during the hottest hours of the day. How well they do is dependent on how much you water during temperature extremes.
🌸 If you work fulltime, it is best to set up a drip system with a timer that can be set to water 2-3 times per day.
🌸 Deadheading flowers will result in more blooms. Million Bells are self-deadheading.

Many years ago,, we sold 10-inch hanging baskets. Those pots are just too small. The 12-inch is the minimum size needed for success and we are happy that Tony’s Garden offers the 12-inch baskets for fundraisers. Thank you for your support!

SPIRITUAL COMPANIONSHIP

micro-groups

Faith was never meant to be a solo journey, and every single one of us needs an earthly friend as a companion in the light.  Consider joining or starting a "micro-group": a group of 2-4 people living in the light together, practicing reading Scripture, prayer, and honesty, and meeting once a week.

You can choose your own group members. If you want to join a group and have no one to invite, we can try to link you up with an existing group or someone else looking for a partner. Visit pvclife.com/groups for more information.

THE JOURNEY TO WHOLENESS - Christ-centered Twelve Step Recovery

Thursdays at 7:00pm • Pleasant Valley Church Youth Room (Rm 5)

Are you looking for more support in your journey to living free? Maybe you're working through the process of reckoning and release that we've been talking about in our Unburdened series and the Releasing Bitterness seminar. Perhaps you've lost a loved one through death or divorce, and you'd like support in your journey. Or maybe you've been wrestling with an unhealthy dependency upon substances or other destructive behaviors. Did you know that PVC has a weekly 12-step recovery group meeting called Journey to Wholeness?

Journey to Wholeness is a support system for people of any faith (or lack thereof) who are struggling with things that are hurting them or the people they love. It presents a 12-step model for understanding God and ourselves as God’s creation.

Come on Thursday nights at 7:00 PM and you'll find a safe and anonymous group of individuals who are committed to health, healing, sanity, and serenity. We hope you'll join us on the Journey to Wholeness!

LIBRARY BOOK CART

"We've got a lot of new books that have just been donated," reports our Book Cart librarian, Rit Kunau. You're encouraged to find a book that might bless you and take it home with you. Bring it back when you're ready for the next person to read it. There are books for adults and for children.

PRAYER WARRIORS:

Join us Sabbath Mornings at 8:30 am in Room 7

Prayer Warriors support the church through prayer, interceding, or earnestly asking for God's will to be done, for others. If you are interested in being a part of the Prayer Warriors group, please contact Charles Oroko at charles.oroko@outlook.com, or contact the church office.
