SPRING WEEK OF PRAYING

May 17 - 21, 6:00-7:00 pm • PVC’s Fellowship Hall (Rm 10)

God hears us when we pray! Prayer is effective for us, in us, and around us. So we are gathering as a church family for a week of prayer, Sunday, May 17 through Thursday, May 21: every evening at 6:00 pm. This will look different from some of the prayer meetings you’ve been to in the past: there is no preaching, no devotional, no going around the circling talking, and no one has to pray out loud. If you need to, you can leave early or you can come late, but please plan to join us here for prayer together.

INPUT REQUESTED!

as PVC makes plans to update our interior design

We've been talking for a long time about refreshing the common spaces of our church building---think lobbies, sanctuary, fellowship hall. As we start to make actionable plans around that, share your ideas, concerns, and priorities.

CELEBRATING ED WETTERLIN'S LIFE

May 30 at 4:00 pm • Pleasant Valley Church

A story-telling of Ed’s life is planned for Saturday, May 30 at 4:00 pm at Pleasant Valley Church. All are invited to come and join friends and family as they share stories of a life well-lived. Ed loved spending time on Maui. Hawaiian-inspired attire (aloha shirts, dresses) is encouraged but optional.

In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated in support of The PD Rebel Project, a non-profit organization benefiting people with Parkinson's Disease through research-backed exercise programs. Visit pdrebelproject.org. For more info on The Rebel Fit Club and to find a gym for someone you know living with Parkinson’s, go to rebelfitclub.com/

WE ARE CELEBRATING GRADUATES! Are you or someone in your family graduating? Please let us know the name of the graduate, school and grade (8th, high school, college, masters, doctorate, etc.) by contacting the church office at 503/658- 2248 or office@pvclife.com. MONTHLY SENIOR MINISTRY GET TOGETHER

June 3 at 10:00 am

Come join your fellow PVC seniors for a relaxed morning of fun and fellowship in the church fellowship hall! We'll have hot drinks and goodies ready — all you need to bring is a smile and a friendly spirit. 😊 Settle in for a good visit, or bring along your favorite puzzle or game and invite others to play. These monthly gatherings are all about staying connected with the people who matter most — your spiritual community.

ALL-CHURCH POTLUCK AT PVC

June 6, after 2nd service

June's potluck is being hosted by the Explorer class — and since they're a smaller group, we'll be using a hybrid shared-responsibility model. That means the Explorers will handle the hosting duties, and everyone else pitches in by bringing a dish and helping where needed. It's a team effort!

Here's how it works when you arrive:
  1. Drop your dish off in the kitchen and place it in the appropriate oven, warming oven, or refrigerator.
  2. When the meal wraps up, help with cleanup before heading out.

That's it! Bring a dish with plenty to share, enjoy the fellowship, and lend a hand. We hope to see you there!

SPECIAL 4TH OF JULY SABBATH – Worship & Potluck Brunch Sabbath

Combined Worship Service at 9:15 am  | Brunch at 10:30 am

In celebration of Independence Day, we will be having ONE combined service — no separate study hour! Instead, we will be having a BRUNCH potluck! We encourage everyone to bring a dish to share! Whether it's a breakfast casserole, fruit salad, pastries, or your favorite recipe — we look forward to enjoying a brunchy time of fellowship together for the holiday.

PVC’s ANNUAL SUMMER CAMP-OUT

September 11-13, 2026 Ft. Stevens Campground

Space it limited, so sign up now. Reservations will be honored on a first-come, first-serve basis.

THE GIFT OF SIGHT

A Collaborative Effort with Global Eyeglass Ministry PDX

We are preparing to donate the 2nd box of glasses! We would like to thank PVC members and friends who have already generously donated 52 pairs of old glasses for our Global Eyeglasses Ministry Support (GEMS) project!  Our 2nd box of glasses will be soon matched with those with those who desperately need them in Africa and Asia.

If you would like to donate a pair of glasses before we deliver the 2nd box, please do so by the end of May. Thank you!

Our Project continues so “that those who do not see may see…” John‬ ‭9‬:‭39‬ ‭ESV‬‬.  A donation box is at the front reception table.
(If you would like to see where your glasses end up, please attach your name and email to the donated glasses).

DWELL WITH PVC

Meditate on God's Word with PVC

We have a church subscription to Dwell Audio Bible, a mobile-based app for your phone or tablet that lets you listen to Scripture in a variety of translation with a rich list of features, like themed playlists, kids’ devotionals, reading plans, memorize mode, and reflection options. If you join our membership, you’ll have access to all of the subscription features for the next year, and we encourage all of our PVC Fam to take this opportunity to make Scripture a part of daily life.

SPIRITUAL COMPANIONSHIP

micro-groups

Faith was never meant to be a solo journey, and every single one of us needs an earthly friend as a companion in the light.  Consider joining or starting a "micro-group": a group of 2-4 people living in the light together, practicing reading Scripture, prayer, and honesty, and meeting once a week.

You can choose your own group members. If you want to join a group and have no one to invite, we can try to link you up with an existing group or someone else looking for a partner. Visit pvclife.com/groups for more information.

PATHFINDER BOTTLEDROP GIVE FUNDRAISER

A Great Way to Support Our Club!

Pick up a “blue bag” from the labeled container in the coat closet off the foyer. Fill with your recycle donations, then drop them off at any Bottledrop location. The bags are tagged with a QR code that will automatically open the drop off door and credit our Pathfinder account with your donations.

THE JOURNEY TO WHOLENESS - Christ-centered Twelve Step Recovery

Thursdays at 7:00pm • Pleasant Valley Church Youth Room (Rm 5)

Are you looking for more support in your journey to living free? Maybe you're working through the process of reckoning and release that we've been talking about in our Unburdened series and the Releasing Bitterness seminar. Perhaps you've lost a loved one through death or divorce, and you'd like support in your journey. Or maybe you've been wrestling with an unhealthy dependency upon substances or other destructive behaviors. Did you know that PVC has a weekly 12-step recovery group meeting called Journey to Wholeness?

Journey to Wholeness is a support system for people of any faith (or lack thereof) who are struggling with things that are hurting them or the people they love. It presents a 12-step model for understanding God and ourselves as God’s creation.

Come on Thursday nights at 7:00 PM and you'll find a safe and anonymous group of individuals who are committed to health, healing, sanity, and serenity. We hope you'll join us on the Journey to Wholeness!

ALL-CHURCH POTLUCK

Shared Responsibility Model

Rather than having a class group hosting, we're implementing a shared-responsibility model — and we think you'll love how easy it is.

When you arrive, simply:
1) Drop your dish off in the kitchen and place it in the appropriate oven, warming oven, or merchandiser refrigerator.
2) After 2nd service, return to the kitchen to get your dish ready to serve.
3) When the meal is done, please help with cleanup before heading out.

That's it! Bring a dish (with plenty to share!), enjoy the fellowship, and lend a hand. We hope this simpler format makes it easier for everyone to participate. See you Sabbath!

BABY!
